It has been a whirlwind week - end of the school year for my fifth grader (who is tickled she is now a sixth grader); a high school graduation and grad party for my older daughter; family visiting and helping my daughter prepare for a 3 week tour in Bulgaria/Istanbul with the Youth Symphony.  Great times, great memories!  So...better late than never....presenting week 21 of Project 366!

Seven Days of May (1st 3 days)

Over at jessicasprague.com there's a party going on -The Seven Days of May. For seven days (which began on Monday), you can find a new challenge in the general forum - along with a cool freebie.

Here are my layouts for the first three days.  I love a good challenge and you know I love (wink wink) adding a layout or two or seven to my "to be printed" folder. Can't wait to see what day 4 brings.  If you hurry, you still have time to participate in day 3 - you just need to download the freebie before day four is posted.

Hope you are enjoying the month of May.  In addition to these very fun challenges - we are winding up the school year for my fifth grader - and preparing for a High School Graduation & Celebration for my Senior.  Hug your little ones - they grow up way too quick.
Have a super week...by the Shore.

Loving Life in Manual

I just completed a great six week class offered by Candice Stringham at jessicasprague.comOhShoot helped me turn the dial from automatic to manual.  The journey through digital photography is amazing and I am really starting to understand the language and terminology, which at times can be foreign and confusing.  Candice does a fabulous job of teaching the basics (and beyond) - and her two teaching assistants, Nancy and Kimber have been there every step of the way sharing their knowledge and expertise.  (And I understand that the class may be offered again later this year if you are interested)

I have just signed up for Candice's next photography class - Portraiture.  Starts next Monday ~ and I can't wait! (Now to find a few willing victims - er....models.  My kids are running in the other direction every time they see camera in my hand.)  Looks like there still might be some openings for this class if you care to join me.  (update: I just checked and this session is already sold out)

And, I thought I would share a peek at my Mother's Day gift.  My family really is supporting my new passion for photography.  For Mother's Day, I received a camera bag from JoTotes.  (And a few photography books - and least I forget a beautiful bouquet of flowers and starbucks card from my daughter Shannon)  Here is a glimpse of my new camera bag - isn't it beautiful.    I have the camera body with lens, two additional lens -and a little more room for another lens and a flash.  I can also toss in my wallet and cell phone and I am good to go!  I've got the best family ever!

On another note - I am working on a new digital kit for you that should be released in the next few days.

Have a fabulous week - by the Shore.

Recipe for Adventure!

Welcome to by the Shore designs…whether you are participating in ADSR7 (the Amazing Digital Scrap Race) and are on a detour or are simply stopping by to say hello – I’m glad you’re here. The Amazing Digital Scrap Race is hosted by Natural Designs in Scrapbooking and we are all having a blast.  I just love all of the layouts that are showing up in the gallery so far!
Are you ready for a digital scrapbooking challenge? I decided to serve you a Recipe Challenge as you need to stay nourished on this journey. One of my favorite recipes is a Three Bean Casserole. My favorite aunt, Bonnie, shared this recipe with me years ago and I hope she's okay that I spread the love. It’s easy to make and is a real crowd pleaser. (Check the end of this post for the recipe) OK, back to the detour! This ADSR7 detour is a layout challenge – A Recipe for Adventure. Make sure you use all 7 “ingredients” and create a layout following the recipe directions. The most important part is to have fun!

RECIPE FOR ADVENTURE!
Ingredients:

1. One cool beverage

2. Facebook Freebie from by the Shore designs - link to facebook on my sidebar

3. Two Patterned Papers (minimum – add more if desired)

4. Two Solid Papers (minimum – add more, if desired)

5. Three photographs

6. Three different elements (you can use these elements multiple times if desired)

7. Two favorite fonts

Directions:
Grab your favorite beverage (see ingredient one) and enjoy! It’s important to stay hydrated on your adventure!

The word ADVENTURE must appear somewhere on your layout. Head over to my facebook page, ‘like’ me, and download my ADSR7 Freebie. At least one item from this freebie must be added to your layout.

Add the remaining ingredients (special note: ingredient one should NOT be added to your page) You may always add more to your layout, but the required ingredients listed above must be included. Mix well, season to taste.

When you have completed your layout – head on over to NDISB and upload it to our Challenge and Contest gallery.  Make sure you tell us in the comments what beverage you were enjoying (ingredient one) For the record, I am currently enjoying a cold diet caffeine free Dr. Pepper.

For everyone that successfully completes this detour and posts their layout in the gallery no later than May 17th, I will send a discount coupon to my store at NDISB (will be a private message on your NDISB account)   Note: even if you are not an ADSR7 participant, if you complete the detour challenge as indicated and upload your layout to the NDISB Challenge and Contest gallery - I will send you a discount coupon too.
It’s that easy!

And speaking of easy – here is the recipe for Three Bean Casserole.

(The recipe 'card' was created using my Shades of Gray Collection) I hope you have enjoyed this detour. Make sure to come back and visit me…by the Shore

It is wonderfully warm here in Colorado - and I love all of the GREEN that spring brings.  Have a fabulous weekend....by the Shore.
